PARK(ing) Day in Pilsen
September 21, 2007
Halsted and 19th Place

PARK(ing) Day is a one-day, global event centered in San Francisco where artists, activists, and citizens collaborate to temporarily transform |p|a|r|k|i|n|g|s|p|o|t|s| into PARK(ing) Spaces: temporary public parks.

RECLAIM THE PARKING SPACES! Pilsen's Cesar Chavez Community Garden is in danger of being paved over by the Principality of Podmajersky to make way for a parking lot, so concerned citizens in Chicago's Pilsen neighborhood created PARK(ing) Spaces on Halsted around 19th Street to raise awareness for Pilsen's fight to save green space!

PARK(ing) Tickets were handed out to let people know the damage their cars can cause by just sitting around idle taking up what could be valuable green space.
