Ride Reports:
Oh, poor little pussies.

I interviewed a magician today, an old fat piker who coughed phelgmy into a hand wearing a Masonic ring.
He spoke with passion about magic, country music and old friends. He was born in Iraq. He wore a stained T-shirt bearing his stage name.
I took a walk today. A middle-aged women in traditional German garb and a garland in her hair played the accordion in a public square. I passed by three times over the next hour and a half. She was still playing the whole time, smiling like she just heard a joke she was savoring before she could share it.

The Chicago police have been trying to get us to break into smaller masses for a long time now DON'T DO IT! As for last months ride thestevenlane was at the helm & if you knew the guy you would know he has nothing to do with the police just Google "thestevenlane" for proof. Every ride is different for good reason, staying just in the loop would get boring fast!

EVERYONE -
Last month the police were obviously leading the ride. Whoever was leading the group was riding along with the police, talking with them, and clearly doing whatever they wanted, which included going to lesser populated west side streets.
WE CANNOT ALLOW THIS TO HAPPEN AGAIN.
The whole point is to stay downtown in the more populated areas and TAKE THE STREETS BACK. Also, there are NO LEADERS of critical mass, so if some rogue seems to be taking us in a direction to comply with police then feel free to break up into another large group and stay downtown.
Missed it, however will be there Friday

Stay together in large numbers and try not to break up into smaller groups, would be my observation. Sounds like someone hijacked the ride or there were no maps distributed. The CPD have been infiltrating the rides as long as I have been doing them (nearly three years), however the bike coppers usually don't try to route them. That comes into play downtown when the squad cars and wagons try to push the ride up west or north. My experience has been that as long as we don't try for an expressway or LSD we can hang around the crowded areas all night.

I have to agree with the previous post about this being my worst experience thus far in all of my years of "Massing". To me the entire purpose of the 'Mass' is to be out in large numbers and to move around downtown on the more popular streets in unison, to be noticed as a collective. Michigan ave should be a no brain'r. This last mass was mostly on unpopulated roads and we seemed to be heading west into less populated parts of Chicago.

The June 2009 C-Mass was the worst I have ever been on. I have been on many of the masses in the past, but this one was led by someone that others were calling Gandhi and he was carrying a large green cross. The Chicago police were also up front with “Gandhi” and they were talking on the police radio, telling the other police exactly where we were going. He was also telling everyone to stop at all of the stop lights. I wonder why this last mass traveled down very obscure out of the way streets and kept going West out of the downtown area.

Big ups to all those who participated & yes even that portly cop who threatened me several times with imprisonment. It was a really great ride unlike last months infiltrated, fragmented & disjointed race to the finish line.
Hey we even made the news. Check the PR spin on this one lol

The 1968 Chicago riot cops are celebrating the brutal beating of innocent Americans that were practicing their constitutional right to assemble and protest. WTF?
SILENCE = COMPLIANCE.
Let’s bike by and let the riot cops hear the voices of TRUE Americans that will NEVER condone POLICE BRUTALITY!
