Cork, Sprint, Rinse, Repeat
Cork, Sprint, Rinse, Repeat

So I spent the mass sprinting to the front, then corking until the rear hit. I corked 6 times.
Cork 1: Michigan Ave & Walton Dr.
I had 3 tanks edging up on me the entire time. One was a very disgruntled land rover that really wanted someone to ruin that pretty paint job. A police officer was helping me on this cork. I didn't catch the officer's name, but he was a really nice guy. He told me he thought it was a good idea and all, as long as people don't go all crazy and get excited and fight.
Cork 2: Through the insanity, I forgot to look at street signs, but the left turn after the right turn leaving Michigan Ave
This was a bit more interesting, 2 cars were in mid-intersection, where the same police officer as in cork 1 was corking, and there was a car on the other lane looking intent, but was easily subdued. This intersection proved interesting, the officer asked me to take over his cork, and left. Once he left, I had 2 people coming out of their cars and asking me to move, or trying to move other bicycles. I was a bit disappointed in the other corkers (about 5 or so) that were focused on the traffic in the other direction when I was trying to hold 2 lanes back. Thankfully one of the Rat Pack helped me out with the most badical chopper i've seen (and probably the most manly-to-steer as well). That bike pretty much covered both lanes, so I was able to focus on the trouble. One of the motorists was out and about in the intersection trying to get corkers to move out of the way, and was also getting in the way of other cyclists, but he eventually realized his weak position and retired to his tank.
Cork 3: Armitage and I-90
There was one car that decided to turn illegally, and was caught in mid-stride by the mass. They seemed concerned that they were doing something wrong, but I corked them and made them sit in the steaming pile of shame they created. They weren't happy. Additionally there were a few over-sized Stupid Useless Vehicles that looked a bit menacing but had turned off their lights by the time I had gotten there.
Cork 4: Diversey and Sheffield
This was a brief cork, and really not much happened. Some crazy lady 4 cars back came and told me she had a screaming child. I told her to convince the cab that had to have 2 corkers to go the other way, and I'd let her follow him. She wasn't pleased, but there was no way I was going to give the cab an inch. Towards the end of the mass I moved a little and he tried pushing through me. At that point some people helped me hold him.
Cork 5: Beginning of Lincoln Park
I helped again here, not for long, and the only thing were a few overzealous yuppies in expensive cars wanting to pick fights with the mass.
Cork 6: Midway through Lincoln Park
I started this cork at about 3/4 mass, but I held back drivers coming from North Lagoon Drive (?). This was memorable because one of the yuppies from cork 5 had been in hot pursuit of the mass and provoked a cyclist into a fight. A quick yell of "Your the last one, lets go!" got the bicyclist re-focused and let the mass move on. We at the tail though had to spread out to prevent the disgruntled motorists behind from trying to blindly bowl past us and hit riders in front.
All and all an interesting mass, I enjoyed it!
Now lets everyone dress like Chicago's Finest for the next ride and show our appreciation for the CPD!
